Episode 9: Entrepreneurship and Experiments in Space

Dr Sharon Lemac-Vincere, Lancaster University, talks to Satoshi Sano.

In this episode I am joined by Satoshi Sano, a researcher and engineer at Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). Satoshi shares how his childhood passion for space has led him to a career conducting research with scientists, entrepreneurs and astronauts on International Space Station. This podcast is overflowing with amazing examples of the entrepreneurship in the International Space Station such as growing roses to use in perfume or making space whisky. And our chat is interspersed with examples of the work of scientists on the International Space Station seeking to find cures or new ways of managing illnesses and disease on earth. We had a fantastic time recording this podcast. I do hope you enjoy this one too.
