Social media user survey

Social media users’ survey: User views about the use of their data for research

This short survey aims to find out social media users’ views about researchers using their online data for research. The survey is quick and easy to complete. It takes 3 minutes and is in a tick-box easy format.

The survey is part of a larger project funded by the Wellcome Trust which is exploring how people working at universities deal with the difficult ethical issues raised by research which uses social media data (please explore our website for more details about this project). Finding out what social media users think about universities using their data for research will help us make better guidelines for researchers.

There are no foreseeable risks in participating in this survey. The survey is anonymous. Submission of the completed survey implies consent, and withdrawal from the study will not be possible past the point of submission. Only individuals over 16 years are permitted to complete the survey.

If you are interested in the project, have any questions, would like more information, or would like to be involved in possible future research please email us: gabrielle.samuel@kcl.ac.uk; g.derrick@lancaster.ac.uk

If this study has harmed you in any way, you can contact King’s College London Research Ethics Committee, rec@kcl.ac.uk.
