Around 40 people attended the webinar on \u2018Smart Surfaces and Coatings\u2019 with <a href=\"http:\/\/smarter-materials.co.uk\/alex-robson-gismo-innovation-felow\/\">Dr Alex Robson<\/a>, including academics from a range of institutions, large and small organisations worldwide, and SMEs in Cheshire and Warrington.<\/p>\n<p>The event was the first in a series of seminars from researchers working in the fields of <a href=\"http:\/\/smarter-materials.co.uk\/themes\/additive-manufacturing\/\">Additive Manufacturing<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/smarter-materials.co.uk\/themes\/chemicals-hydrogen\/\">Chemicals and Hydrogen<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/smarter-materials.co.uk\/themes\/surfaces-coatings\/\">Surfaces and Coatings<\/a>, about advances in materials science and how they can benefit businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The webinar covered a range of topics relating to surfaces and coatings, including plasma polymerisation, anti-microbial and anti-viral coatings, sensors, and more.<\/p>\n<p>A Q&amp;A session followed the event, which included a range of technical questions about the applications of coatings to various surfaces from attendees.<\/p>\n<p>If you missed this webinar, <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/33jT4VO\">you can watch it here<\/a>, and if you have any questions about how we can help you with surfaces and coatings, or about GISMO in general, please <a href=\"http:\/\/smarter-materials.co.uk\/contact-us\/\">get in touch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The GISMO project is part-funded by ERDF and is free to eligible companies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Upcoming events<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>GISMO Programme Manager James Stancombe will join the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cia.org.uk\/chemicalsnorthwest\/Events\/CNW-Events\/Event-Details\/eventDateId=4373\">Chemicals Northwest January Breakfast Networking<\/a> session on Thursday 14<sup>th<\/sup> January to illustrate the kind of materials challenges GISMO can help Cheshire and Warrington businesses to solve, all fully-funded.<\/p>\n<p>Our next breakfast seminar will take place on Friday 5<sup>th<\/sup> February, focusing on functional coatings with Professor Rob Short, director of the Lancaster University Materials Science Institute. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/coatings-weve-got-it-covered-tickets-122388809223\">Click here to find out more and book.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GISMO\u2019s first breakfast webinar on Friday 27th November was a resounding success.
