Shakespeare and His Sisters hosted\u00a0the AHRC-funded \u2018Dramatizing Penshurst Festival’ 25 August-16 September which was dedicated to celebrating Lady Mary Wroth and offered an exciting programme of open rehearsals, performances, exhibitions, stories and conversations. The Festival brought to life the remarkable literary history of the Sidney family by rehearsing and staging a fully costumed production of\u00a0Love’s Victory\u00a0<\/em>(c.1617) at her home, Penshurst Place.<\/p>\n

Members of the acting company offered a series of open rehearsals\u00a0 for visitors to watch and offer comments\/suggestions.<\/p>\n

The Festival closed with the first professional performance of\u00a0Love’s Victory\u00a0<\/em>at Penshurst Place which was filmed so a wider audience can share in the Festival’s goal to uncover a ‘hidden’ heritage: the history of Shakespeare’s ‘sisters’ or female contemporary dramatists.
