The Reading Comprehension Advocacy Network (RCAN) was set up to provide strategic direction and leadership to inform, challenge, and influence education policy in England, specifically in the area of primary school reading comprehension. We aim to provide opportunities to develop and transform policy and practice in primary school reading comprehension.
Central to our work is engagement between researchers, stakeholders and policy makers to share ideas and findings. This collaboration is designed to drive a more coherent and research-based approach to the teaching of reading comprehension, and the remediation of reading comprehension difficulties.
Our work is supported by:
- University of Sussex “Knowledge Exchange and Impact” grant
- Lancaster University “FST Engagement Fund” grant
- The ESRC International Centre for Language and Communication Development (LuCiD)
