The test is of short duration, less than 2 minutes for each circuit but the circuit has to powered down<br \/>\nAs soon as I have a firm date for the test (5th Jan has been proposed) I will get this out to everyone.<br \/>\nIf you have equipment that can not be powered down please let me know it\u2019s location (room number) as soon as you can.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shonah Ion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Last university mail collection before Christmas<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The last day for sending University mail will be Thursday the 23rd of December 2021 before the University closure, till the 3rd of January 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Happy holidays!<\/p>\n<p>See you in 2022!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Celine Neimark \/ Grainne Wilkinson<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Useful Tip &#8211; The New Global Protect VPN<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re a user of the new Global Protect VPN service to access university resources from home and then come onto campus, it\u2019s best to switch it off while you\u2019re here.<br \/>\nOn WIFI you can now access things like LUNA and Printing from Eduroam (and also the Ethernet of course) without VPN thanks to changes to the WIFI network.<\/p>\n<p>So if you turn off the VPN while on site, then this should hopefully make your connection on campus quicker and free up a bit more speed for those off site.<br \/>\nLastly if you\u2019re using Remote Desktop from home then you don\u2019t need the VPN either as it comes in a different route.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Physics IT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) declaration<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s that time of year when we need to gather the records for the declarations under the Chemical Weapons Act to comply with the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).<br \/>\nWe are legally required to submit a declaration for CWC if we<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>produce, process, consume (i.e. use), import or export any quantity of\u00a0CWC\u00a0Schedule 2 chemicals<\/li>\n<li>produce, import or export any quantity of\u00a0CWC\u00a0Schedule 3 chemicals<\/li>\n<li>produce above 200 tonnes of discrete organic chemicals (DOC), or above 30 tonnes of any\u00a0DOC\u00a0containing the elements phosphorus, sulphur or flourine (DOC\/PSF)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The CWC schedules are on the Departmental safety SharePoint site.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t think we have anything in schedule 1 but please let me know as soon as possible if we do!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shonah Ion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Dept Safety handbook 2021 edition<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s that time again to read, mark, learn &amp; inwardly digest the latest edition of the Dept. safety handbook.
