Power down over Christmas break & building circuit testing in New Year
\nIf you can turn off equipment over the Christmas break please do so.
\nFacilities have to test 30% of the electrical power supply ciruits to maintain compliance with safety regulations and this testing is due to take place in the week we return from Christmas break.
\nIf labs & computers can be shut down in preparation of this it will make things quicker.<\/p>\n
We will check all areas before the test is done to ensure nothing is obviously running. The test is of short duration, less than 2 minutes for each circuit but the circuit has to powered down
\nAs soon as I have a firm date for the test (5th Jan has been proposed) I will get this out to everyone.
\nIf you have equipment that can not be powered down please let me know it\u2019s location (room number) as soon as you can.<\/p>\n

So if you turn off the VPN while on site, then this should hopefully make your connection on campus quicker and free up a bit more speed for those off site. Useful Tip – The New Global Protect VPN<\/strong><\/h2>\n
\nOn WIFI you can now access things like LUNA and Printing from Eduroam (and also the Ethernet of course) without VPN thanks to changes to the WIFI network.<\/p>\n
\nLastly if you\u2019re using Remote Desktop from home then you don\u2019t need the VPN either as it comes in a different route.<\/p>\nChemical Weapons Convention (CWC) declaration<\/strong><\/h2>\n
