It goes end of life in a weeks time so just check what version your running and update it if it&#8217;s 16.04. Preferably update it to 20.04 but if not at least to 18.04. Please retain your documents if you think your item may be returned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Steve Holden<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>PS Staff Reward and Recognition <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This is just a reminder that the deadline for submission of PS staff reward\u00a0 and recognition cases is Friday 26th February.\u00a0\u00a0 There is also a further opportunity in May to submit cases and the deadline is Friday 28th May.<\/p>\n<p>The link detailing all the information you need is here: <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.lancaster.ac.uk\/intranet\/services\/people\/pay-recognition-and-reward\/professional-services-reward-and-recognition\/\">https:\/\/portal.lancaster.ac.uk\/intranet\/services\/people\/pay-recognition-and-reward\/professional-services-reward-and-recognition\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cases are to be emailed to <a href=\"mailto:PSReward@lancaster.ac.uk\">PSReward@lancaster.ac.uk<\/a>, however, please copy in Lynne so we can keep track of the cases submitted.\u00a0 If anyone would prefer a sanity check on their case prior to submission then please let me know.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lynne Haley &amp; Shonah Ion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>New Lockdown Requirements<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>All those who are accessing or planning to access the building for essential activities during this current national lockdown must review their risk assessments in light of the increased risk of infection due to the highly transmissible virus currently in circulation.<br \/>\nIt is strongly suspected that the new strain is more transmissible because of the following reasons<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Greater viral loads may be shed by\u00a0asymptomatic cases.<\/li>\n<li>The viral\u00a0survival time on surfaces may be longer.<\/li>\n<li>The viral survival time as an aerosol may be longer,\u00a0particularly in relatively low humidity environments.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Consider these increased risks and modify your control measures if required.<\/p>\n<p>The basic controls (hands, face, space) are still \u00a0good control measures but <strong>we need to redouble our efforts and be especially vigilant now<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The following points from the University\u2019s safety office offer actions which will help to protect us all. Review your work area and ensure we do all we can to counteract this increased risk.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Regular handwashing, keeping a distance of 2 m and wearing a face covering where instructed, remain the greatest priority.<\/li>\n<li>All staff must use the cleaning sprays and disposable towels to regularly wipe surfaces after use, paying particular attention to touch points (i.e. door handles, key pads, the handles of shared equipment (specialist and kitchen equipment). Hands should be washed or sanitised following this activity.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure ventilation settings remain at the maximum and staff should continue to open windows where artificial ventilation is not provided.<\/li>\n<li>Physical screening should be reassessed to ensure it is adequate i.e. the screen should completely isolate the person behind it, if not, the distance the aerosol must travel to reach the other person must be greater than 2 m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Shonah Ion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Keeping Your Computers Up to Date A quick heads up to any of you running Ubuntu Linux 16.04 LTS.
