Magnets are a key enabling technology for fusion, with powerful magnetic fields required to confine the plasma. Almost all design concepts for commercial fusion reactors rely on superconductors for efficient and reliable generation of the magnetic fields. This seminar will focus on the properties of superconductors that make them attractive for fusion magnets, as well as the materials challenges that need to be overcome to enable the next generation of fusion devices.

Sam Jarvis

Tony Guenault

I am sorry to have to report that Tony Guenault, our colleague and former Head of Department, passed away at 8am this morning after having suffered a stroke several days ago.
