This event inspired lively discussion, and the idea of forming a women\u2019s network at the University was born.<br \/>\nRachel Beauchamp, who works in the Faculty of Science and Technology as a Student Employability Officer, is interim chair of the group.<br \/>\nShe said: \u201cThis is an issue that is very close to my heart and I am passionate about women\u2019s empowerment and change &#8211; I am sure there are many more staff across the institution who feel the same.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since the initial event in March, a discussion and planning meeting took place in April to generate ideas on how the network should move forward.<br \/>\nRachel continued: \u201cWe want to create a women\u2019s network that meets the needs of its members and serves a real purpose within the University. We will aim to inspire, support, empower, change and raise awareness of women\u2019s issues within the institution and across the wider community.\u201d<br \/>\nAll staff, regardless of gender, are invited to share their thoughts on what the purpose of a women\u2019s network at Lancaster should be, and which activities and opportunities it should offer.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/wnlus18\"><strong>Please give your feedback by completing this short survey<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amanda Ross<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>June Safety Induction<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This will be held on Monday 4th June at 2:30pm in B10 Physics. It can be found at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/depts\/safety\/moodles.html\">http:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/depts\/safety\/moodles.html<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shonah Ion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Annual Fire Protection Inspection \u2013 Fire Doors<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The fire door inspection will take place in Physics building and Isolab during \u00a0week commencing the 21st of May 2018.<br \/>\nLancaster University has a responsibility to inspect Fire Protection on site every 12 months. Fire Protection Inspection involves assessing compartmentation, fire stopping, signage, combustible materials and more. Part of this inspection will involve two members of the Lancaster University Facilities Maintenance team checking many of the parts of every fire door in the buildings. This usually takes less than five minutes per door.
