Water Testing
Water Hygiene Testing in Physics will take place week commencing 11th November 2019 from 9am daily.
Two Lancaster University engineers will require access to kitchens and shared bathrooms to test hot water temperatures. The engineers will not test every kitchen/bathroom just a sample from different locations within the building. This brief survey will take approximately five minutes, and is to ensure that the hot water is maintained at the correct temperature to prevent any instances of legionella. There will be no shutdown of service.
If you have any queries regarding the timing of the work please contact Facilities Helpdesk as soon as possible, facilities.helpdesk@lancaster.ac.uk 01524 593333

Safety Handbook
It’s time to read the latest iteration of the Departmental handbook and confirm you understand it. It’s available on the Departmental web site under “about us”, “information”, then either “staff” or PG student” as appropriate and you’ll find the handbook under safety or essential documents.
It’s an informative (dare I say riveting) read and will only take 20 mines or so with a warming beverage & biscuit.
Please let me know of any factual errors, spelling mistakes or typos.

Be Informed – Lancaster University Wellbeing Update
Dear colleagues
We’ve been working with Unite the Union to make a firm joint proposition on the subject of Workplace Wellbeing taking into consideration the results of the 2018 Staff Survey. A joint paper was submitted to the University Management Advisory Group (UMAG), Health and Safety Consultative Committee (HSCC) and the University’s Safety, Health and Wellbeing Committee (C-SHaW) recommending that the five ways to wellbeing becomes the framework for the new Staff Wellbeing Webpages.
It was agreed to create a Task and Finish Group based on representation from the Faculties and Professional Services to create a comprehensive institutional wide offering.
The group are now in a position to share our draft Lancaster University Wellbeing web content and we’d really appreciate you having a look through this site and sharing any comments on it, bearing the following in mind please:
- Is the content useful? Functional? Correct?
- Is there any content you feel is missing?
- Is there any content you feel doesn’t need to be there?
- Is there any content you don’t understand/needs to be clearer? Please explain why.
- Is there any content you feel is not in the right location?
- Please share any thoughts on look and feel overall
- Please share any other thoughts on how to improve the content…
- What questions and answers are missing from the FAQ?
Please include direct links to any pages that you are giving feedback on, thank you.
Please would you email your feedback to staffwellbeing@lancaster.ac.uk by no later than Friday 29 November 2019.
We hope that you find the webpages to be a useful source of information and look forward to hearing your feedback. Thank you.
