Increased use of own campus offices
Now we are in September, we have had some experience of the increased use for office spaces in Physics. As indicated by our survey, thus far, there has been no issue of crowding or over-occupation, though I note that not all groups have been making much use of their office spaces. To be clear, those with single occupancy offices can use them. The use of multi-occupancy office spaces needs management for now, but equally you should be able to use them with a little planning. (The list of area managers who will oversee this has been circulated previously in the bulletin and is appended below, and there are calendars available for those managers to use.) As the building gets busier, we will issue guidance over the use of other shared spaces such as the atrium; we continue to ask people to minimise their time in kitchens and C36, so others can also make use fo them.
While I would still encourage you to blend working from home with working on site, you will gain some confidence about the measures on campus in advance of the start of term and in person teaching if you spend some time in the building. This will also help improve interaction in groups. The campus itself remains very quiet.
There was new guidance on the use of campus on Monday, which you will have seen.

You will see it continues to encourage mask wearing and distancing where possible, but there is also a recognition that there will be circumstances where this is not possible. We are moving closer to the normal safety regime, where all activity is controlled through risk assessment and resultant mitigations, rather than blanket rules imposed from above. Please take this to heart, and remember you not only have a responsibility to yourself but also to those around you.

Performance Development Review
Just a reminder that it’s PDR (Performance Development Review) time. In case you have not seen it, HR put out a communication about PDRs for 20/21 which includes links to guidance, training and demos of the electronic form.
Please note that I only have access to my own PDR form so if you need technical assistance with yours, please contact HR Systems.
If your line manager/ PDR reviewer needs to be changed on Core HR so that they can access your form, HR systems can do that for you too.
FAO Non-academic staff on probation (and their line managers)
Staff that are on probation should have an initial PDR in place and complete the accompanying Probation Review form. These can be found in the bottom section of this webpage.
