The Engineering Department is looking to sell 2 Myford Super 7 centre Lathes.
One is single phase, the other is 3Ph.
The lathes can be viewed in the main Lab of the Science and Technology Building (Old Engineering building)
Sealed bids for either or both lathes should be submitted to Andy Baker in Engineering by Friday 1st February – both lathes have a reserve and if this is not met, they will be offered externally.
The lathes are sold as seen and the successful buyer should be in a position to remove them – assistance can be provided for loading onto transport.

Eat and Meet series: Wellbeing session

We want to start the New Year by focusing on your own wellbeing, so our first Eat and Meet session on Wednesday 23rd January 2019 12.00-1.30pm will be an interactive session highlighting wellbeing activities and providing information on what support is available for you and your colleagues.

In this practical and informative session, framed around the five ways to wellbeing, we will explore what “wellbeing” is and update you on the work of the Faculty Wellbeing Work Group and its plans for the future. We will also explore and share tips and tools on improving wellbeing, and provide information that you can take away summarising the wide variety of services, clubs and activities you can access from across the University. This varies from apps and the Employee Assistance Programme, to mental health courses, woodland walks, and ideas to start your own activities.

The session will follow the usual format of Eat and Meet: 1 hour workshop followed by a networking lunch. We look forward to seeing you there.

To register for a place click here: https://lancaster-uk.libcal.com/event/3360833. Numbers are restricted, so early registration is recommended.

Departmental Safety handbook

Can all those members of staff who have not yet read this year’s safety handbook please do so. Then print out and sign the front page to say you have read it and return to G. Wilkinson’s pigeon hole. It our legal duty to provide you with guidance on how to stay safe whilst at work, this document is part of this process.

EU Settlement Scheme

The University is pleased to announce that we are set to be part of the EU Settlement Scheme pilot, giving colleagues the opportunity to apply for settled status before the scheme opens more widely in early 2019.
Since the referendum in 2016, we have developed a number of different strands of support for our EU colleagues to assist with the impact of Brexit. To continue, we are now taking part in a second phase pilot of the EU Settlement Scheme, which applies to EU citizens and non-EU family members of EU citizens working in the higher education sector.

Taking part is entirely voluntary but should you choose to, you will be able to make an early application for your new UK immigration status so you can continue to live and work in the UK after the end of the planned implementation period on 31st December 2020.

It has been agreed that the University will reimburse the £65 application fee for those who apply for Settled Status and we are in the process of pulling together additional support to assist staff to make an application, if required.

For more information about the EU Settlement Scheme, please visit GOV.UK.

For those interested in participating in the pilot, full details can be found on our EU Referendum pages, including support offered by the Home Office and the additional support being offered at Lancaster.

If you have any questions, please contact us on EUReferendum@lancaster.ac.uk.
