Help Needed with Food Waste
Thanks to all who have used and helped with the Food Waste Bin in C36.
This was introduced when we were confined to the second half of the pre-refurbed building. It has been a great success with huge amounts of compostable food waste being diverted away from general waste and sent to the compost bins.
Unfortunately the two locations that this can be emptied are the Eco Hub (which is located behind Lancaster House Hotel) and The Orchard (which is next to the path between the Pre-School and the Health Centre that
leads to the football pitches. Since the level of use means that this
requires every two days now (and will only increase) as all staff move back into the building, it makes it difficult for one person to empty.
Until a better solution (such as a closer compost bin) can be found, it will require more volunteers to take the bin (this could be done each night when going to SW Campus and returned in the morning for example.) Due to this, and my decreased use of C36 as we now have a closer coffee room, the bin will be moved from C36 to one of the smaller break rooms.
If anyone is able to help with this, or supply additional grey bins to help with this, then please drop me an email. Thanks,
Robin Long
Facilities works in Physics
We have been informed by Facilities of the following works.
Emergency Lighting Testing in Physics Building will take place week commencing 24th July 2017 from 9am daily.
Every month there is a quick test to ensure all Emergency Lighting fittings are operational. This involves a quick visual test. In residences, this applies to corridors and kitchens. There are longer, more involved tests at 6 month and 12 month intervals. I will notify you should any of these be occurring.

Performance Development Reviews for 2016/2017
The 2016/17 Performance Development Review (PDR) cycle is drawing to a close. All Lancaster University staff employed for more than 12 months continuously, including those on fixed-term contracts, are expected to take part in the PDR process. Staff who are on probation do not need to have a PDR but new starters in support areas should have objectives set using an ‘Initial PDR form (for new starters)’.
For full information on PDR policy, guidance and PDR forms please visit http://www.lancaster.ac.uk/hr/pdr/ The PDR forms were updated quite recently so please ensure you use the current version from the webpage. The period of review will generally be from the beginning of August 2016 to the end of July 2017.
When forms are complete and signed by both reviewer and reviewee please could they be passed to me.
