Does it have agency? For each, write down the answer to these questions:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Is technology presented in a specific way (good vs bad)?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Is it assumed to have agency (does it \u2018do\u2019 things in the world)?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/app.mural.co\/t\/owt3264169\">Go to your group\u2019s theme 1 mural<\/a> and add the media examples on the existing framework. These will NOT appear if you read the PDF in a web browser.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">During and after the reading, identify the key examples used by Winner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">For each, think about:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">where agency is located in these examples<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">the theoretical perspective it matches best<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">the possible contradictions<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Then, <a href=\"https:\/\/app.mural.co\/t\/owt3264169\">go back to your group mural and place these examples on the chart.<\/a>\u00a0Use the comment feature to explain your choice. If a group mate has already placed the example you located, add instead a comment explaining whether you agree or not, and why.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Now read a second article of your choosing (depending on which theory you want to explore for the short essay you have to write).<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">For technological determinism, read <a href=\"https:\/\/modules.lancaster.ac.uk\/mod\/resource\/view.php?id=1376291\">Dafoe (2015)<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">For Social Construction of Technology, read <a href=\"https:\/\/modules.lancaster.ac.uk\/mod\/resource\/view.php?id=1376290\">Pinch &amp; Bijker (1984)<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">For Actor-Network Theory, read <a href=\"https:\/\/modules.lancaster.ac.uk\/mod\/resource\/view.php?id=1376462\">Latour (1988)<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><a id=\"a4\"><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Finally, write a 250 word (min) paragraph with the following prompt:<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Choose a theory of technology from those explored (technological determinism, Social Construction of Technology, Actor-Network Theory).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Explain in your own words the theory and critically evaluate it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Support your work with at least 1 example and 2 references.
