Liz and Michael from the Mapping Doctors team were delighted to present at a recent Medical Schools Council Gateway and Foundation leads meeting. Our findings showed that widening access to medicine makes a significant contribution to improving the representativeness of the profession, so it was great to be able to share our learning with people tasked with the remit of making change. We know that medical schools have a role to play in setting admissions criteria, and the presentation focused on how medical schools also have a role to play in supporting students from diverse backgrounds to succeed in medicine.
