The LUMEN Blog offers a platform for students to submit and share original work that offers scholarly rigorous comment on areas of literature and culture relating to the blog\u2019s theme.<\/p>\n<p>While founded in the Department of English and Creative Writing, the journal is interdisciplinary and values contributions from students across all FASS departments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The theme for this year is \u2018chaos\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some possible topics that you may wish to explore include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chaos in politics;<\/li>\n<li>Philosophical theories of chaos;<\/li>\n<li>Chaos in literature and\/or film;<\/li>\n<li>Essays on contemporary texts looking at the current social climate;<\/li>\n<li>Creative work related to the idea of chaos;<\/li>\n<li>Considering \u2018chaos\u2019 in certain historical contexts;<\/li>\n<li>Artistic representations of \u2018chaos\u2019.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Submissions would compromise of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Short critical essays (600-1000 words)<\/li>\n<li>Or a short piece of creative work with a reflective commentary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Please submit any proposals to <a href=\"mailto:luxjournal.lumen@gmail.com\">luxjournal@hotmail.com<\/a> with the subject heading \u2018Proposal \u2013 LUMEN Blog\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal should include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Name<\/li>\n<li>Email address<\/li>\n<li>Prospective title of blog post<\/li>\n<li>A brief (few sentences) outline of your ideas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once we\u2019ve received your proposal, we\u2019ll contact you to negotiate an initial submission deadline.
