{"id":39,"date":"2016-02-24T15:49:25","date_gmt":"2016-02-24T15:49:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/luxjournal\/?page_id=39"},"modified":"2017-06-03T11:24:59","modified_gmt":"2017-06-03T11:24:59","slug":"styleformatting-instructions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/luxjournal\/instructions-for-authors\/styleformatting-instructions\/","title":{"rendered":"Formatting\/Style Instructions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Please note: Essays should be completely anonymous to ensure that the <a href=\"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/luxjournal\/instructions-for-authors\/\">peer review process<\/a> is blind. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Formatting instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Title written in bold (not underlined\/ italicised).<\/li>\n<li>Page numbers are located in the upper right hand corner.<\/li>\n<li>Font size: 12.pt.<\/li>\n<li>Use a readable font (e.g. Times New Roman, Calibri, or Arial).<\/li>\n<li>Margins: 1 inch (2.54cm) indented all the way around.<\/li>\n<li>Do not indent the first paragraph after headings\/ sub-headings. Indent all others by \u00bd inch (1.27 cm).<\/li>\n<li>Use <strong>double<\/strong> quotation marks (\u201c \u201d).<\/li>\n<li>Quotes longer than 2 lines of poetry or 4 lines of prose should be indented as a block quote by 1 inch.<\/li>\n<li>Titles of books are in <em>italics<\/em>. Titles of essays\/ poems\/ articles are in \u201cdouble quotation marks\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Please <strong>use endnotes<\/strong> and do so sparingly. Endnotes should appear on a separate page just before your \u201cWorks Cited\u201d and be entitled \u201cNotes\u201d or \u201cNote\u201d (if singular).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Articles should use the <u>MLA referencing system<\/u>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Some creative-critical works may be exempt from this, but only if (a) the change in formatting\/ referencing style is necessary for the construction of the work, and (b) all work by others is still accurately referenced and acknowledged.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Advice in referencing using MLA is covered in this document: <a href=\"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/luxjournal\/files\/2016\/02\/2017-MLA-Guidelines.pdf\">MLA Guidelines<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>An even more extensive guide can be located at <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/owl.english.purdue.edu\/owl\/resource\/747\/05\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">OWL PURDUE MLA<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Please note: Essays should be completely anonymous to ensure that the peer review process is blind.
