The LUMS Research Conference 2024 is taking place on Thursday, 9th May. Our conference theme is ‘Expanding boundaries of responsible management research: theory and practice’.
We are delighted that Dr Sharon Alvarez will open our conference, delivering her keynote presentation.
We have a number of exciting ways to participate including:
1. PhD Poster Competition (submission date: 27th March 2024)
As with previous years, the LUMS research conference will offer a dedicated session to showcase the richness and variety of work being undertaken by doctoral researchers across the School. The session has worked exceptionally well at visually capturing the huge range of postgraduate research across Departments and Centres and a great catalyst for students to develop posters that they can re-use and submit for presentation at subsequent workshops and international conferences.
The PhD Poster Competition will include a gallery of all entries in the form of an in-person exhibition. Expert researchers from across the school will give feedback on the quality of poster entries. PhD Students are encouraged to submit abstracts of their current research project.
Prizes will be awarded for the 3 best posters entries. For more details on how to enter the competition, please refer to the guidance here.
2. Early Career Researcher (ECRs) ‘Pecha-Kucha’ presentations (submission date: 27th March 2024)
The LUMS Research Conference 2024 will be the first year that ECRs (those within eight years of their PhD award) will have opportunity to present their work to colleagues across the School in an engaging, accessible way. The format for this session is ‘Pecha-Kucha’ (Japanese: Chit-Chat), which is a visual presentation made up of 20 slides, each to be presented for 20 seconds, designed to nurture visual and concise storytelling, distil complex ideas for generalist audiences, and creatively communicating work to non-specialists*.
ECRs will be invited to explain a key project (or an element of their project) in an imaginative PechaKucha format using descriptive images to lead their audience.
Prizes will be awarded for the 3 best entries. For more details on how to enter the competition, please refer to the guidance here.
