Lancaster – 1-2 September 2026

The eleventh edition of the Languages for Specific Purposes in Higher Education conference, LSPHE 2026, will be held at Lancaster University over two days on Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd September 2026.
The Call for Papers is out.
Decisions will be taken by mid-May 2026.
The conference will feature a keynote address by Dr Timothy Douglas (Senior Lecturer in Biochemical Engineering, Lancaster University) entitled: “The best language of science: anything except English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) or rather English for Generic Foreigners (EGF): enjoy the banquet of Languages Other Than English (LOTEs)”
The conference will also feature a round table on the topic of multilingual medical humanities

The fee for both days is £125, with a reduced fee of £60 for students/PhDs, non-affiliated scholars & Lancaster University staff.
