{"id":66,"date":"2021-03-16T15:51:27","date_gmt":"2021-03-16T15:51:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/lec-sustainability\/?page_id=66"},"modified":"2021-06-16T16:53:46","modified_gmt":"2021-06-16T16:53:46","slug":"food-and-catering","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/lec-sustainability\/sustainability-commitments\/food-and-catering\/","title":{"rendered":"Food and catering"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Recognising that many of our current practices are not in line with addressing the climate and ecological emergency, Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) commits to:<\/span><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul class=\"bullet\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">We will aim for all catering purchased by the department to include ingredients that are local \/ seasonal and \/ or organic, and for information about food sustainability to be available when procuring and consuming catering.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">We will minimise meat and seafood consumption by purchasing catering for departmental events that is entirely or mainly vegetarian \/ vegan.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Vegan options will be available as standard, without attendees having to request it as a special dietary requirement, and we will work with caterers to ensure that vegan options are not inferior.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Fairly traded food and drink will be purchased wherever possible (e.g. tea, coffee, chocolate, fruit).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">These commitments have been developed by the LEC Sustainability Group in consultation with all members of the department.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt\">Spring 2021 &#8211; This new website is in development.
