We are a diverse team of researchers, non-academic staff and students who are working together to enhance the environmental sustainability of Lancaster Environment Centre and its community of staff, students and partners.
As an environmental department, Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) recognises that sustainability needs to be embedded in everything it does. We also recognise that many of our current practices are not in line with addressing the climate and ecological emergency. This Sustainability Group was established to:
-
- Help enable Lancaster Environment Centre as an institution and community to put sustainability into action.
- Engage with the wider Lancaster University on sustainability.
- Act as a forum and platform for debate on sustainability issues.
To date we have made specific sustainability commitments in five areas: community; food and catering; teaching, learning and engaging; travel and waste. Particularly important is the Travel Decision Tree that we have developed to help everyone to make more sustainable travel choices.
Previous initiatives and events
