{"id":7,"date":"2024-04-05T10:05:48","date_gmt":"2024-04-05T10:05:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/jukebox\/?page_id=7"},"modified":"2024-06-17T21:34:05","modified_gmt":"2024-06-17T20:34:05","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/jukebox\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The history of the rapid development of the \u2018homegrown\u2019 Jukebox is relatively&nbsp; undiscovered yet in the 1950s a British jukebox industry, based in large part in&nbsp; Blackpool and Lytham, flourished by creating a distinctive, original and quirky machine&nbsp; that owed little in its design to its US equivalent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Along with the growth of milk and coffee bars, the jukebox gave teenagers an \u2018escape\u2019 from the parental gaze and a freedom to explore their own tastes in music, fashion&nbsp; and styles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This project will uncover and tell the stories of the British jukebox in the North-West of England.
