There were marches after participant\u2019s secondary school closed, which was after they left<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:04:49-00:05:40<\/td><td>Their secondary school was sexist &#8211; with segregated subject choices (boys took GCEs, while girls were taught for office work)<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:05:41-00:12:09<\/td><td>Participant\u2019s work and study trajectory in Morecambe and Preston, which culminated in a position in the county council personnel office. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:12:10-00:14:34<\/td><td>Parents\u2019 jobs and poor financial situation.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:14:35-00:15:13<\/td><td>The new world of the 60s \u2013 including changes in clothes and hairstyles. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:15:14-00:16:48<\/td><td>Listened to music on a transistor radio which was taken everywhere; a friend had a record player. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:16:49-00:17:47<\/td><td>Time in urban areas: would go to Pilling and occasionally the beach or Fleetwood Market. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:17:48-00:20:08<\/td><td>Participant\u2019s brother almost died in the water when participant was twelve, but he was saved. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:20:09-00:22:44<\/td><td>More time was spent in Lancaster during high school, including going to a coffee bar with a jukebox. Others would also go to one in Morecambe. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:22:45-00:24:55<\/td><td>Did not go to Morecambe often \u2013 only during events. Jukeboxes faded as the 70s and local groups came along. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:24:56-00:28:23<\/td><td>Would go to the floral hall, where participant met the Rolling Stones (1963). There was often aggression but no serious injuries. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:28:24-00:30:01<\/td><td>Did not experience jukeboxes elsewhere since they were not in pubs by the time participant was of age. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:30:02-00:31:28<\/td><td>Would have thought jukeboxes were only around for ten years \u2013 only recalled the popular songs in the coffee bar, which was part of the atmosphere. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:31:39-00:34:20<\/td><td>Parents were of a different musical era \u2013 a contrast between radio and groups. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:34:21-00:36:24<\/td><td>Innocence of the moment; recognised music was put on jukeboxes and groups were playing at night. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:36:25-00:38:59<\/td><td>Changes in life plans involving marriage from then and now; would visit the seaside after having children and weekends would be spent on study. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:39:00-00:40:00<\/td><td>Had a similar experience as others of the same age and era, and a connection to the same place. She met her husband when he was in the civil service. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:40:01-00:42:45<\/td><td>Blackpool circus was very popular. The fish and chips shop was a treat.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:42:46-00:44:20<\/td><td>The television took over, with popular music and variety programs (on the small TV as a child). <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:44:21-00:45:49<\/td><td>60s music never really died \u2013 still listens to it. Seamless \u2013 the kind of music, 60s music never really died \u2013 she asks me if I like that music: I\u2019ll listen to all sorts, 45:50 mother\u2019s relation to music? She used to sing \u2013 her era (Salvation Army), not many friends who were in musical scene &#8211; money. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:45:50-00:48:12<\/td><td>Mother used to sing (part of her era in the Salvation Army), although not at home. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:48:13-00:49:19<\/td><td>It was an exciting time \u2013 living in the present as a youth. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:49:20-00:53:12<\/td><td>As a loner child, reading was a relief \u2013 which may have influenced the different life paths between the siblings, as well as contrasting the freedom of the 60s with the opportunities of her parents.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:53:13-00:54:10<\/td><td>Slaughter of hens due to fowl pest crushed father as a farmer; they moved to Garstang for his work. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:54:11-00:56:27<\/td><td>Friends didn\u2019t go very far \u2013 with only bikes \u2013 but they would visit family (a cousin, grandparents) in areas nearby, like Garstang (to babysit). <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>00:56:28-00:59:19<\/td><td>Would access books from school, although after parents\u2019 death found beautiful books they had gotten from Sunday school.
