A  real gem has been found in a treasure trove of Fifties and Sixties memorabilia.

When Phil McGrath heard about Mirador’s latest project – Jukebox: The Teenage Revolution – he loaned a box full of nostalgia from the era.

And nestled within was a 1959 issue of the Melody Maker which explained how records were chosen for the British jukeboxes produced by Ditchburn Equipment Ltd of Lytham St Annes.

The article acts as an introduction for the first ever Top 20 of most popular jukebox records published in the newspaper with Elvis Presley topping that particular chart.

Mirador is grateful for the loan from Phil who presents the Quick Draw Radio Show on Beyond Radio every Monday evening when he looks at all things local from a week in the Fifties, Sixties or Seventies.
