{"id":12,"date":"2019-06-19T14:17:41","date_gmt":"2019-06-19T14:17:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/gynae-cancer-narratives\/?page_id=12"},"modified":"2024-11-18T13:52:29","modified_gmt":"2024-11-18T13:52:29","slug":"gynae-cancer-narratives-project","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/gynae-cancer-narratives\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/grace\/\">*Find out about our new project &#8211; <strong>GRACE<\/strong> (<strong>G<\/strong>ynaecological <strong>RA<\/strong>diotherapy <strong>C<\/strong>onsent <strong>E<\/strong>nhancement)*<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Gynae Narratives Project is a series of projects focusing on experiences of radiotherapy treatment for gynaecological cancer.<\/p>\n<p>The first of these projects, funded by NorthWest Cancer Research, was a collaboration between\u00a0<strong>Lancaster University<\/strong>\u00a0in the Northwest of England and\u00a0<strong>The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre<\/strong>\u00a0(CCC), an NHS Foundation Trust that specialises in the treatment of cancer, located on the Wirral near Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p>The project ran between May 2019 and March 2022.<\/p>\n<p>A second project, The\u00a0<strong>Gynae Cancer Narratives On-Line<\/strong>\u00a0project was developed to allow us to gather patients\u2019 accounts remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The project\u00a0aims for these two projects were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>to increase understanding of how radiotherapy impacts on the sense of sexual self and on social and personal lives, and<\/li>\n<li>to improve patient experiences of living with the social and personal impacts of radiotherapy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The current project, <a href=\"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/gynae-cancer-narratives\/talking-about-sexual-pleasure\/\">talking about sexual wellness<\/a> is funded by the ESRC Impact Acceleration Fund and brings the research team together with both the Society and College of Radiographers and experienced sexual pleasure workshop facilitators to initiate a series of conversations with health care practitioners.
