Uses Critical Discourse Analysis and an overview of critical theory, in general, to analyse and understand Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Characters in popular modern children\u2019s cartoon series. Takes a qualitative approach and samples episodes from 20 different cartoons and looks at five major themes these characters represent. As well as discussing the language used around gender non-conforming people in children\u2019s contexts, it looks at language in power and references Fairclough\u2019s 2003 study on analysing discourse. It would be beneficial as a reference point for a variety of Genderqueer animated characters, with the beginnings of some useful linguistic analysis.<\/p>\n
