{"id":1297,"date":"2018-12-19T11:56:30","date_gmt":"2018-12-19T11:56:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/floodarchive\/?page_id=1297"},"modified":"2019-09-27T15:08:03","modified_gmt":"2019-09-27T15:08:03","slug":"what-is-the-data","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/floodarchive\/access-the-data\/what-is-the-data\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the data?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"color: #ff6600;font-size: 12pt\"><strong>Here you will explore:<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600;font-size: 12pt\"><strong>the range and scale of data generated by Lancaster University researchers investigating the social effects of flooding<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600;font-size: 12pt\"><strong>Data generated during Lancaster University\u2019s flood research projects<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Lancaster University researchers have conducted three major studies into the social effects of flooding: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/lec\/sites\/cswm\/hullfloodsproject\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Hull Floods Project (2007-2009)<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/lec\/sites\/cswm\/hullchildrensfloodproject\/home.php\" rel=\"noopener\">Hull Children\u2019s Flood Project (2007-2011)<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/cyp-floodrecovery\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Children, Young People and Flooding: Recovery and Resilience (2014-16)<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The team has drawn on a range of qualitative methods in these projects, from traditional social science tools such as group discussions and interviews (face-to-face or by telephone) to more participatory approaches such as diaries, \u2018walk &amp; talk\u2019, \u2018photo talk\u2019, storyboard drawings and 3D model making. These approaches have generated different types of primary data including transcripts, drawings and photographs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">As a result of the mixed methods of data gathering, the projects have produced a range of data types.
