Magdalena: Public Relations Intern at Street & Co PR Media.

Magdalena  completed their undergraduate degree in History, and during her degree, they completed an internship with Steet & Co in London for 2 months.

What is Street and Co?

A: Street and Co is a communications agency specializing in luxury, food, and lifestyle sectors. They handle a variety of clients and focus on delivering tailored media strategies to meet each client’s unique needs.

Q: How did you find working for the organisation?

A: Working at Street and Co was a fantastic experience. The all-women team was incredibly lovely, patient, and accommodating. I felt well-supported throughout my time there, thanks in part to the FASS employability team who helped me with the application and interview preparation. Their support made my overall experience much more successful and enjoyable.

Q: What were your responsibilities during the internship?

A: From the start, I was involved in a range of tasks. Given my background as a young social media user, the team was eager to get my perspective on how to use social media effectively. I helped with managing social media channels for clients, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and made recommendations to increase coverage. I also researched trends, ran social media channels, live tweeted, and explored potential media opportunities like coverage lists. I used Gorkana to connect with media professionals and handled delivering goody bags to clients, which helped me navigate the city’s transport system and improve my time management and planning skills.

Q: What did you learn from working at Street and Co?

A: My 2-month internship gave me a comprehensive understanding of the media industry and the realities of working in a large corporate city like London. I gained valuable insights into PR, demonstrated my initiative in contributing to organizational goals, and learned about working relationships and the importance of networking. The experience was invaluable and provided me with practical knowledge beyond what I had learned in my studies.

Q: What advice would you give to prospective interns?

A: I would strongly recommend pursuing an internship or any type of work experience. The opportunities for skill development are endless, from honing interview techniques to working as part of a team. The experience you gain is incredibly valuable and can make a significant impact on your future career.
