After achieving a first class honours, she was awarded an Economic and Social Research Council Scholarship to fund her Masters and Doctorate degree over 5 years. During her studies, she presented her research at conferences across the globe and was selected to represent Europe in the America Accounting Association Doctoral Symposium in Lake Tahoe in 2005. Since graduating with her PhD, Dr Sayjda has spent the last 16 years working in Higher Education where she has designed, delivered and managed several degree programmes within the Business school. She has also worked with many Northwest academic institutions in roles such as; External Examiner, Programme Consultant and Business Mentor. <span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Dr Sayjda has a strong interest in raising aspirations of young adults in the East Lancashire area, particularly in relation to pursuing Further and Higher Education. Her research has also investigated the decision-making behind post-16 choices amongst students of South Asian heritage. She now uses her position as a Widening Participation Academic Advisor to encourage and mentor other students, from similar backgrounds, to pursue their ambitions and fulfil their potential. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Married with four children, Dr Sayjda now resides in Lancaster and enjoys spending time with family.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-193 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/educationmatters\/files\/2023\/03\/icons8-linkedin-circled-50.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"60\" height=\"60\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-182 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/educationmatters\/files\/2023\/03\/9993-239x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"239\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/educationmatters\/files\/2023\/03\/9993-239x300.jpg 239w, https:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/educationmatters\/files\/2023\/03\/9993.jpg 275w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 239px) 100vw, 239px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong>About Eleanor Dove &#8211;<\/strong><\/span> Eleanor is widening participation officer at Lancaster University. She is passionate about widening access to higher education and supporting students. She is in the process of completing her PhD in Biological Anthropology examining medieval childhood health. Additionally, I am an interviewer and researcher for Sciencevideos.org, a website that aims to bridge the gap between researchers and the public. She is also a programme manager for realising Opportunities and the Role Model Ambassador Programme.
