Last week, Modern Languages Open published a special collection including work from some of our wonderful PhD students! The collection titled “Sociolinguistic Methodologies at a Crossroads: Innovations from the Postgraduate Community”\u00a0explores the rethinking of methodological approaches in Sociolinguistics, exploring novel ways in which we can apply research methods in a rapidly evolving research climate. This aims to create discussion about innovative ways to address contemporary methodological research problems and questions.<\/p>\n
The issue includes 5 articles from Lancaster and Liverpool postgraduates, and is guest edited by Dr Nicola Bermingham (Liverpool), Dr Stefania Tufi (Liverpool), Dr Claire Nance (Lancaster).<\/p>\n
From Lancaster, 3 PG students contributed to this special issue; Jessica Aiston, Maya Dewhurst, and Lois Fairclough. Their papers covered fields including critical discourse analysis and phonetics, with themes including digitally mediated misogyny, voice quality, and forensic phonetics.<\/p>\n
