What do you get when you cross a duck and a linguist? A DuckLing of course!

Pets of LAEL – Fudge and Smudge

Welcome back to Pets of LAEL! This week’s pets of the week are Fudge and Smudge.

Fudge inside a house that Claire’s cat, Penny, kindly donated.
Smudge looking regal as always

Fudge and Smudge belong to our Senior Lecturer in Phonetics – Dr Sam Kirkham. Sam adopted Fudge and Smudge a long time ago – the shelter insisted they must come as a pair! They are now around 16-19 years old, but they still behave like kittens and demand constant cuddles. Smudge regularly catches a toy mouse that she brings to Sam, while Fudge’s favourite toy is a cat collar that she bats around the house.

Thank you for being our wonderful LAEL pets of the week!
