Pilot Interviews and INTERACT Workshop

At Lancaster, an initial set of pilot interviews (relating to the ‘Social Justice’ research strand of the project) has been conducted with older adults at a local community centre. A project has been set up for these interviews within ATLAS.ti, using a number of a priori categories and codes (primarily participant attribute codes) in preparation for qualitative data analysis. Recordings are in the process of being transcribed and will then be brought into ATLAS.ti as they become available.

A first-pass evaluation of the pilot interviews is informing the design and approach for the next round, with a focus on determining the best methods to draw out any underlying links between an indvidual’s lifecourse and their views, adoption and/or use of digital technologies.

We are happy to announce that our workshop ‘Playful, Curious, Creative, Equitable: Exploring Opportunities for AI Technologies with Older Adults’ has been accepted to INTERACT 2023. We would greatly appreciate it if anyone is interested to contact us () about the workshop or to register online. We are excited to have a discussion with you.

The design work on the project is now underway and recruitment has begun for a first activity with people over the age of 60, living in the UK. If you are aware of anyone who would be interested in contributing to the project, please do put them in touch (). The activity will be focussed on a week-long diary study and closing interview, for which participants will be compensated £25 for their time for the diary portion of the study and £10 for a one hour closing interview. More details will come soon about our series of technology workshops that will follow on from this!
