Together, we\u2019ll explore the interplay between the local and the global, uncovering stories that connect Lancaster with the wider world. The tour will visit nine locations in Lancaster\u2019s historic Castle Quarter and its surroundings<em>.&nbsp;<\/em>As we wander, we\u2019ll learn how Lancaster\u2019s story links with histories that span from the Roman Empire to the British Empire. You\u2019ll hear about Lancaster\u2019s involvement in the transatlantic slave trade and contributions to the Industrial Revolution. Whether you\u2019re a local history enthusiast or simply curious about Lancaster\u2019s past, this tour promises to be a captivating experience that will leave you with a deeper appreciation for Lancaster&#8217;s links with the wider world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Please note that transport to Lancaster Castle is&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>*not*<\/em><\/strong><em>&nbsp;provided, and there is&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>no scheduled rest break<\/em><\/strong><em>. Places will be limited to 20, so please book early.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;<em>The tour will follow a route that includes sections of uneven, unpaved and potentially slippery paved surfaces.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;<em>The tour will take place outside. Please dress appropriately for the weather (e.g., wear appropriate footwear for walking outdoors).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12.45pm-1pm Arrive outside the main entrance to Lancaster Castle (the John O\u2019Gaunt gate), ready for the start of the walking tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1pm-2.30 Walking tour of Lancaster City Centre taking in nine locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3pm End of event<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Getting to Lancaster Castle and Parking:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Located near to Lancaster city centre, the castle is signposted from the M6 motorway. If travelling from the north visitors should exit the M6 at Junction 34, if travelling from the south they should exit at Junction 33. Lancaster Castle is located only 300 metres from Lancaster Railway Station; Lancaster Bus Station is just over half a kilometre from the castle. The nearest public car parking is at Dallas Road.
