Programme Forum

Last Updated on 15/08/2024

Overview

The Programme Forum was established in 2024 as part of a new governance structure of the programme in response to rapid expansion in training numbers and significant changes in learning delivery and training standards.

  • The aim of the programme forum is to enable the strategic priorities of the programme. Forum members must adhere to this as a key principle.
  • All  members must be able to be present at, and actively participate in the  forum.
  • All members must adhere to principles of constructive and collaborative working
  • All members must uphold the Health and Care Professions Council’s code of conduct and ethics.
  • All members should uphold and embody the values and vision of the programme.
  • All members must agree to represent the range of views/opinions of their cohort/team.

If there are any doubts raised about a particular forum member’s capacity to uphold the code of conduct then the co-chairs of the forum would meet with the individual. If issues were identified there would be an attempt to resolve then through this meeting. If the issues could not be resolved the matter would be referred to the Directors

The Programme Forum consists of 6 trainee representatives from the Trainee Council and 6 staff. The aim is for each trainee cohort and VTG to be represented and for each staff team (administrative, research and clinical) to be represented. There is a rolling staff membership and the term is 3 years (i.e. one joins in 2024 and serves for 3 years, another joins a year later and serves 3 years). Trainee membership is for at least one year but ultimately determined by the Trainee Council. The Programme Forum has two co-chairs, one member of staff and one trainee, who will alternate between chairing the meetings and note taking. The co-chairs will also attend the monthly senior leadership group meetings.

The aim of the Programme Forum is for staff and trainees to work collaboratively towards the strategic priorities of the programme and monitor the progress of the different teams on the programme as they work on projects to achieve their operational priorities. The Programme Forum meets monthly on a Thursday. There are no members of the senior leadership team at the meetings but someone is always available during the meeting to answer queries.
