The University of Cumbria was formed in 2007 by the merger of St Martin\u2019s College, Cumbria Institute of the Arts and University of Central Lancashire\u2019s Cumbria sites, operating from campuses spread across Cumbria and North Lancashire. We may be a relatively new university, but we are steeped in history dating right the way back to 1822. The university is continuing to grow, expanding in geographical terms as well as academic scope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are proud that as one of UK\u2019s newest universities, we have already been recognised for the commitment and strength of our broad range of programmes supporting business, enterprise and growth to large organisations and SMEs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the University there is wide ranging expertise to support innovation. Within the Sciences we have substantial expertise in forestry, conservation, outdoor studies and the environment, together with chemistry, biology, biomedical and forensic specialisms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Related to health and sport, our knowledgebase is wide ranging from sport science, radiography and medical imaging to nursing and paramedic science, and physiotherapy, occupational therapy and social care. Our experience within business and social sciences and extends to policing, law and criminology together with the Institute for Leadership and Sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
