An Innovation Insight

The Innovation Development Programme is a key aspect of what Cumbria Innovations Platform has to offer businesses. The first cohort of 16 businesses are now half way through the programme and have already benefited from exploring new business models and developing new ideas.  Liz joined the programme to help launch new ideas and encourage innovation within her business, she says that, “The workshops are great for business support. They provide a peer network which affirms that what you’re doing is right and the lectures from academics are really interesting, they show you new perspectives for business and innovation”.

January’s workshop focused on Innovation and was led by Dr. Josip Kotler, Associate Professor at the Department of Entrepreneurship, Strategy and Innovation from the Lancaster University Management School. He shared case studies, research and models of how to track innovation, providing new perspectives to the cohort. The session was highly engaging and encouraged delegates to debate the ideas presented to them and how it related back to their business, discussing where they are now and where they want to be in the future with regards to growth and innovation development.

The group will meet again on 22nd February when they will explore internal culture when innovating in the business.
