14th November 2025, 11 am – 12 noon, Dr William Agius, ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences: ‘Culture and communication in the aviation industry’

William Agius is the Deputy Head of the Centre for Aviation of the School of Engineering at the ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences. William’s research focusses on test and rating scale development in contexts of language use for specific purposes as a lingua franca. He is the lead developer for the ELPAC test suite for air traffic controllers and pilots.

She is the Founder and Owner of Language Café – a school which brings together people across cultures and countries to learn language and become part of a shared community.

Giovanna Puppin is Associate Professor in Chinese Studies at University of Genoa. She researches Chinese language and culture. Particularly, Chinese commercial, social, and political advertising (e.g., China’s national image within and outside China); and Chinese communications and media.
