BNClab allows searching the corpora for different linguistic features. Students can search for words and phrases, word classes, grammatical structures and semantic categories.

1. Searching for words and phrases: Just type in the target expression.

2. Searching for specific word classes, e.g. ‘walk’ as a noun or ‘walk’ as a verb.

3. Searching for grammatical structures, e.g. split infinitive or them + plural noun.

4. Searching for semantic fields, e.g. government, emotions, technology, colours, etc. The search will return all concordance lines that contain a word from this semantic field.
