‘Dramatizing Penshurst’ Festival Programme<\/a><\/p>\n

The Festival brought to life the remarkable literary history of the Sidney family by rehearsing and staging a fully costumed production of\u00a0Love’s Victory\u00a0<\/em>(c.1617) at Penshurst Place, the home of its playwright, Lady Mary Roth.

Open rehearsal of Love’s Victory<\/em> in front of visitors<\/p><\/div> Members of the acting company offered a series of open rehearsals\u00a0 for visitors to watch and offer comments\/suggestions.<\/p>\n

The Festival closed with the first professional performance of\u00a0Love’s Victory<\/em> at Penshurst Place which was filmed so a wider audience can share in the Festival’s goal to uncover a ‘hidden’ heritage: the history of Shakespeare’s ‘sisters’ or female contemporary dramatists.<\/p>\n
