Love’s Victory (2018)
As part of the ‘Dramatizing Penshurst’ festival, Shakespeare and His Sisters brought to life the remarkable literary history of the Sidney family by rehearsing and staging the first professional production of Love’s Victory (c.1617) written by Lady Mary Wroth, at her home, Penshurst Place. This also enabled an additional key focus of the project, namely exploring the parallels between plays by Shakespeare and two women writers of the Sidney household, the Countess of Pembroke and her niece, Lady Mary Wroth.
While restrictions mean that we are unable to share the recording of the production, we are able to showcase the many creative outputs and outreach events conducted, both with schools and the wider public, and include a flipbook of photos taken of the Urania company during rehearsals.
