{"id":2,"date":"2020-04-01T20:03:53","date_gmt":"2020-04-01T20:03:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/casei\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2025-03-07T10:45:08","modified_gmt":"2025-03-07T10:45:08","slug":"sample-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/casei\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica;font-size: 10pt\">About Us<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica;font-size: 10pt\">The Centre for Alternatives to Social and Economic Inequalities (CASEI), based in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/sociology\/\">Sociology Department<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/arts-and-social-sciences\/\">Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS)<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/\">Lancaster University<\/a>, focuses on researching and understanding the experiences and causes of, as well as responses to, a range of complex and urgent social, political and economic inequalities both locally and globally, with a particular interest in finding critical alternative solutions. We are an interdisciplinary venture with academic and stakeholder partners in the social sciences, across the university, in the Northwest, nationally and internationally. CASEI is led by and includes members with expertise that covers a range of inequalities, with a particular emphasis on those related to race and racism, class and poverty, gender and sexuality, migration and citizenship, health and disabilities, as well as the intersection between these. They have experience and an established track-record of research and evidence-led public, community and policy engagement and impact. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica;font-size: 10pt\">Through its research and institutional remit, CASEI also plays a role in the Sociology and faculty engagement and impact strategies and welcomes opportunities to work with communities, activists, NGOs and policymakers seeking to address inequalities and find alternatives.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica;font-size: 10pt\">The Centre was founded in 2020 by Distinguished Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/sociology\/people\/beverley-skeggs\">Beverley Skeggs<\/a>.
