9 May 2022 16.00-17.30 UK BST – Climate Change and Care: From Colliding Crises to Intersecting Sustainabilities
In this seminar we explore the multiple connections between climate change and care. We seek to understand how the ways in which the causes of and solutions to the environmental and care crisis are interlinked. What has the need to devise more effective and inclusive care infrastructures got to do with the need for an economy not premised on fuelling climate change and destroying the planet? How does thinking care and climate change together open up possibilities for change, and how is such thinking currently being put into practice?
Speakers: Sherilyn MacGregor (Reader in Environmental Politics, University of Manchester), Christine Corlet Walker (Research Fellow, Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity) and Maeve Cohen (Director, Rethinking Economics).
Discussant: Susan Buckingham (independent researcher and consultant).
Chair: Emma Dowling (Tenure-Track Professor for the Sociology of Social Change, University of Vienna).
