Razan is a student at the University of Idaho, in Idaho, USA participating in a study abroad at the University of Lancaster for the Michaelmas 2023 term. He is studying Environmental Science, Climate Change, and International Studies for his undergraduate degree. Originally from Islamabad, Pakistan, Razan grew an interest in photographing and filming the beautiful countryside he would often travel to in his country. Having seen the impacts of climate change on communities in Pakistan, he plans to pursue a career in climate adaptation after completing his education.
The photograph was taken by my mother on her visit to a village in Sindh, Pakistan with an NGO, and was edited by me. It captures a young boy standing by part of his family’s dwelling after the unprecedented floods of 2022 that engulfed a third of the country and affected 40 million people.
