The 2024 Commonwealth Professional Fellowship programme at Lancaster University highlighted transformative learning for three African professionals—Mary Sibande Kunwanje (University of Livingstonia, Malawi), Dr Georgina Erifeta (Igbinedion University, Nigeria), and Dr Felly Mugizi Tusiime (Ministry of Water & Environment, Uganda). Each participant brought unique perspectives and gained insights into integrating research, entrepreneurship and environmental solutions.
Their experiences underscored the importance of adapting UK research practices to address community-specific challenges in Malawi, Nigeria and Uganda. Through mentorship, skill-building and networking, they plan to implement sustainable practices and foster eco-innovation upon their return.
