Re-Make Lancaster
Urban renewal in Lancaster will inevitably involve the demolition or redevelopment of buildings that have shaped the city for centuries. As much of the urban fabric is made from stone and brick, these materials should not be treated as waste, but as resources for recycling, reprocessing and reuse. This project explores their transformation within a “demolition–recycling–reuse” cycle, supporting environmental goals while preserving local memory and character. Through exhibition, lectures and an interactive workshop, the programme invites the public to understand, reinterpret and creatively reuse recovered bricks and stones, turning demolition into a process of cultural continuity.
