The skin I wear<\/span><\/p>\n

The skin I wear is a covering<\/span>
\nfor my bones and flesh<\/span>
\nand I’m glad it holds it in<\/span>
\nbut wonder sometimes<\/span>
\nwhy and sigh<\/span>
\nabout the pain I’m in.<\/span>
\nIt’s not as if I’ve fallen<\/span>
\nor didn’t watch where I was going,<\/span>
\nI was plodding on quite well I thought<\/span>
\nand tried to do what I’d been taught –<\/span>
\nI enjoyed it all in a way.<\/span>
\nCan I use a vacuum cleaner?<\/span>
\nWhy do you ask? I used to<\/span>
\nwork full time and be the breadwinner<\/span>
\nand I can’t help wondering whether<\/span>
\nyou would have asked that of a man.<\/span>
\nI can somehow think you know<\/span>
\nI’m still here in a way,<\/span>
\nI think so, anyway.<\/span><\/p>\n
