Learning hubs

What is a Learning Hub?

The Learning Hubs are set up to give social workers in Cumbria a reflective space to think about research and critical practice issues. Co-delivered by lecturers at Lancaster University and the Practice Development Workers for Cumbria County Council, any social worker is welcome to attend these Hubs.

Each time we meet, there is some space to think about research, dealing with difficult situations in practice, and most importantly a chance to hear how other social workers are managing similar situations. Each session begins with input from a lecturer at Lancaster University, then after a tea/coffee break, this is followed by a group discussion split up into children and adults social work groups. Attending a Hub is recognised CPD activity for social workers and will be added to your training record.   The sessions are informal spaces and we welcome any ideas on future topics to cover.

Who can come?

Any social worker employed by Cumbria County Council and Lancaster students on placement in Cumbria are welcome to turn up.

The sessions are planned to be bite-size so run from 9.30 to midday.

You do not have to come to every single session, but you can if you want to.

When and where do the hubs take place?

If you wish to come along please get in touch with either Carolyn Millican or Matthew Devlin.
