About the Partnership

Lancaster University and Sunway University established an academic partnership in 2006.

Under the partnership arrangement between the two universities, students are able to study at Sunway University campus in Malaysia on a range of degree schemes and graduate from both Sunway University and Lancaster University. Please see Degree Programmes for more information on this.

Through this partnership, we also encourage student mobility between the UK and Malaysia on study abroad and short-term summer programmes. For more information on the opportunities available to students, please see our International Experiences page.

Moreover Lancaster and Sunway have recently launched a new joint initiative, the Future Cities Research Institute (FCRI). The FCRI will build on existing strengths at the two universities and will develop an innovative and agile portfolio of research, responding to the challenges facing urban environments.

The FCRI represents a logical ‘next step’ in shaping the agenda for future city development, and in deepening the relationship between Sunway and Lancaster, through its support for broad research themes of Digital Cities, Sustainable Cities and Liveable Cities. One of its core missions is to train and empower PhD students specialising in relevant disciplines. To find out more about the Future Cities Research Institute, please visit the FCRI website.

On this website, you will find further information about the Lancaster-Sunway partnership. Our News page is updated regularly to ensure you are kept up-to-date with new developments. If you are on Twitter, please see the hashtag #LancasterSunway #SunwayLancaster
