Invitation to partner with STARS

Research collaborations

The call for STARS studentship proposals is now closed and the studentships are underway. However it is not too late to get involved with stars as a research/business/policy partner, we are always on the lookout for innovative collaborations. If you are interested in getting involved, a list of our current projects can be found here.

For more information on research collaborations please contact the STARS office.

CASE Studentships

STARS welcomes input from business and industry, and is particularly keen to hear from potential CASE (Collaborative Award in Science and Engineering) partners.  A CASE studentship is a fantastic opportunity for businesses and organisations to get involved with the latest research in soil science and to benefit from the high-calibre enthusiastic students who are attracted to the STARS Centre for Doctoral Training. Although STARS is no longer setting up new studentships, CASE partnerships can still be established with ongoing projects.

CASE partners work closely with research teams to address key issues and the students spend time working with the CASE partner outside the academic environment.  In return, partners are expected to contribute a minimum of £1000 per year to the STARS CDT, to meet the extra expenses incurred by students visiting and working in their establishments and also to contribute in cash or in kind towards necessary materials.

This NERC webpage offers more information on CASE partnerships; you can also contact the STARS office for further details.
