{"id":1131,"date":"2019-07-09T23:35:54","date_gmt":"2019-07-09T23:35:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/shakespearelangproject\/?page_id=1131"},"modified":"2026-07-16T11:31:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T11:31:18","slug":"data","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/shakespearelang\/project-resources\/data\/","title":{"rendered":"Data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our core data is the <em>Enhanced Shakespearean Corpus<\/em> (ESC). \u00a0It principally consists of three components:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">(1)\u00a0<em>ESC: First Folio Plus<\/em> (ESC: Folio)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">(2) <em>ESC: Comparative Plays<\/em> (ESC: Comp)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">(3) <em>ESC: EEBO-TCP Segment<\/em> (ESC: EEBO)<\/p>\n<p>It also has two subsidiary components:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">(4) <em>ESC: Quartos<\/em> (editions of Shakespeare\u2019s plays in quarto)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">(5) <em>ESC: Verse<\/em> (Shakespeare\u2019s non-theatrical verse)<\/p>\n<p>Access to all five components is available now via the <em>ESC User Service<\/em> website, which you can reach from the menu bar above (<strong>Project resources &gt; Access<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>If you make use of these corpora, we request that, in any publication, you cite the canonical reference for the component(s) that you have used.
